Discussion on the Technology of Extracting Phenolic Compounds from Coal Tar

Summarized and compared were three methods extracting phenolic compounds from coal tar, namely, the sulfuric acid method, the carbon dioxide method and the extraction method. At the same time, the process technology of phenol distillation was optimized, proposing a scheme to have 5 normal distillation columns and 1 off-spec product distillation column. Carbon dioxide method was suggested for extracting phenolic compounds, and continuous and sequence process was suggested for phenol distillation.
