发展是当代中国民族问题的本质含义。当代中国民族问题所面临的困境主要体现为少数民族和民族地区政治权利的保障和落实、少数民族及民族地区的经济发展困境、现代化冲击下少数民族传统文化的传承和发展、城市化进程中的民族工作的开展及管理、现代政治格局中国家领土及主权的统一和维护等。必须以坚持中国特色社会主义道路自信为前提,积极、妥善、正确地解决当代中国的民族问题,从而维护中华民族大团结的格局,促进各民族的共同繁荣发展。

Development is the essence of contemporary Chinese ethnic issues. The dilemma confronted by contemporary Chinese ethnic issues mainly includes the security and fulfillment of the political rights for minority people and the minority regions, the predicament of economic development of the minority and ＂in the minority regions, the inheritance and development of traditional minority culture under the impact of modernization, the implementation and management of the ethnic works in the process of urbanization, the unity and protection of China＇ s sovereignty and territory integrity in the modern political pattern etc. The premise to solve the Chinese ethnic issues actively and properly is the path of socialism with Chinese charac- teristics that we must adhere to. Only adhering to this path can we sustain the pattern of the great unity of the Chinese nations, and promote the common prosperity and progress for all ethnic groups.
