t is discussed how to deal with the outdated content in the adopted standards when a new standard is set based on inter- national standards and foreign advanced standards. Taking the revision of industrial standard SY/T 0316-1997 ＂Recommended Prac- tice for Field Inspection of New Linepipe＂ as an example, some suggestions, such as＂actively adopting and solidly verifying＂, ＂deeply studying and ensuring timeliness＂, ＂comprehensively analyzing, focusing on details＂, are proposed by the comparative analysis of the old and the new versions of the adopted standard. Correctly handling the outdated content in the adopted standards can improve the quality of standard adoption and ensure the timeliness of the established standards, which can make the established standards more suitable for domestic situation and more operational.
