佛教界最初就具有不墨守成规的精神,佛教的最终目的是破苦求乐,这种"破"的精神后来渗透到佛教的各个方面。至六祖慧能,更是高举禅宗革命的大旗,为禅宗注入了强大的生命活力。也为禅修的"利根"之人注入了开拓的精髓。禅宗摒弃执著,破除拘执,在此基础上进行活用,这是一种玄心颖悟,是妙悟之后的活泼创新。王维自小虽深受佛教影响,但中青年时期一直以儒家济世理想为圭臬而苦苦挣扎,中老年以后则是在倾心侍佛中逐渐抛却以前难以摆脱的执著心理,潜心静虑,从事艺文创作,并且在创作中发挥这种灵动思想自由创造,富于开拓精神。
