Professor WANG Zhongnan's experience in treating intractable insomnia

王中男教授认为,顽固性失眠病因主要涉及七情所伤、饮食失节和劳倦过度。提出了心理疏导、辨证用药、辅助治疗的三步治疗方案:即通过说服劝导、合理宣泄、放松调解等对患者进行心理疏导;根据补虚泻实、调整脏腑阴阳的原则进行辨证用药,补虚重在补益心脾、养肝益肾,泻实重在清肝泻火、化痰祛瘀;同时配合电针、耳穴、足浴等辅助治疗手段改善睡眠。从而延长患者的睡眠时间,提高睡眠质量。

Professor WANG Zhongnan holds the view that the pathogeny of intractable insomnia is due to the hurt of seven human emotions, intemperance of taking food and overstrains. He presented three-step therapeutic regimen： psychological counselling including persuadsion, resonable eatharis, relaxing and modulating mood;medication of syndrome differentiation treatment according to the principles of reinforcing insufficiency, reducing excessiveness and adjusting Yin and Yang in inter- nal organs including invigorating heart and spleen, nourishing liver and kidney, clearing liver fire, phlegm and blood stasis; adjunctive therapy including acusector, ear acupoint, foot bath, etc. Accordingly, it can not only prolong the sleep time, but also enhance the efficacy of obstinate insomnia.
