摘要
方闻与高居翰的中国绘画史研究存在着概念阐释、艺术史观和操作方法的差异。对于夏皮罗的"风格"概念,方闻将其理解为以视觉结构及组合方式为主的形式系统,高居翰则注重其表示绘画特殊品质的内涵。在绘画史观上,方闻将中国绘画史看作一个具有自我更新功能的自足连续系统,高居翰则认为其是融合多种因素的辩证发展过程。这两方面的差异促使二人采取不同的方法,并且在中国绘画史的研究上渐行渐远。
There are differences between Wen Fong and James Cahill in research of history on Chinese Painting, in- cluding interpretation of idea, view on art history, and methodology. Fong holds Meyer Shapiro' s second definition of "Style" as a formal system mainly on vision structure and its combination form, while Cahill pays more attention on the meaning of paintings' special character. As to the view on the history of Chinese painting, Fong takes it as a self-sufficient and consistent system with self-renewal function while Cahill believes it is a process of dialectical de- velopment mixing with multiple possible elements. Above differences make them choose different approaches to the re- search on the history Chinese painting.
