Recently, Geely Group Chairman Li Shufu was invited to join Elon Musk s Geek Park conference in Beijing with the hopes that he and Musk would be able to talk about the future of electric vehicles in China. The invitation declined, the conference planners soon turned to Yang Yuanqing, chairman of the Lenovo Group, to come to the conference to say a few words. However, the perfunctory dialogue between the two did little to alleviate the doubts many have towards, if not the Tesla itself, the ability of this company and its products to actually bring about change.
