晚清外交官刘瑞芬的洋务活动述评

Review of Westernization Movement of Diplomat Liu Ruifen in the Late Qing Dynasty

刘瑞芬是晚清一名尽瘁国事的外交官。他致力于经世致用,主张"自强"、"求富"。在国内做地方官员期间,开明进取,积极筹划和参与洋务活动,还主张学习西方先进的文明,以工商立国,发展商务。出使泰西时,更积极支持国内洋务事业,以期改变清朝积贫积弱的局面。他顺应历史潮流的发展,致力于为国家求富求强的洋务活动,竭力提升中国的外交地位,维护国家的权益,推动晚清从传统走向近代。

Liu Ruifen was a state diplomat in the late Qing Dynasty. He committed to practical, advocated＂ self-improve- ment＂, ＂for the rich＂. While he did local officials in the domestic, he was enlightened and developmental, actively prepared Westernization Movement, also advocated learning western adavanced civilization, building our courntry in industry and com- merce, the development of business. In the west, he more actively supported domestic westernization, in order to change poor and weak situation of the Qing Dynasty. He complied with the historical trend, dedicated to the Westernization Movement which the state became rich and strong, tried to enhance the China diplomatic status, safeguard national interests, and promote in late Qing Dynasty from traditional to modern.
