On the Cross-Cultural Translation Strategies of Cognitive Metaphor

隐喻是一种语言现象,在本质上更是人类形成对周围世界的思维模式和认知手段的过程。中西方背景下,英汉语言的隐喻现象与文化密不可分。翻译不仅是语际间的转换,更是一种跨文化转换。因此,在认知隐喻的跨文化翻译过程中,应从认知的角度分析隐喻所蕴含的文化信息,确定相应的翻译策略,实现源语文本及文化信息的准确传递。

Metaphor is a linguistic phenomenon which is substantially the process for human beings to form their thinking mode and cognitive approach towards the objective world. Metaphor is closely related to different cultures in both eastern and western background. Translation refers to not only the transfer between different languages, but more to transfer between different cultures. As a result, when translating the cognitive metaphor from a cross-cultural perspective, translators should analyze the cultural connotation of cognitive metaphor and adopt appropriate translation strategies to realize the accurate expression of source language's textual and cultural information.
