Progress of surgical treatment for foot and ankle deformities due to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease

Charcot-Marie-Tooth病(CMT)是一种进行性、神经性肌萎缩综合征,是周围神经系统最常见的遗传性疾病,易引起下肢足踝畸形,尤以高弓内翻足多见。由于CMT病涉及多学科,临床表现多样,临床医生对此病的治疗熟悉甚少,使此类患者就医时出现较大困惑。本文参考近年文献,归纳认为对于CMT引起的足踝畸形的外科治疗,应根据患者年龄、畸形类别与程度、肌力失衡的范围及程度、患者对矫形治疗的期望值等因素确定手术指征、制定矫形方案。

Charcot - Marie - Tooth disease is a progressive, nervous muscular dystrophy syndrome and is the most common inherited degenerative disorder of the peripheral nervous systems that causes ankle and foot deformity easily, especially cavovarus foot deformity. Due to the CMT disease involving multiple disciplines and the diverse clinical manifestations, clinical orthopaedic surgeons are familiar with little awareness of the treatment, which make it a big confusion when such patients go to see a doctor. Referencing literatures in recent years, this paper concluded that surgical treatment for ankle and foot deformity caused by CMT should vary with each individual, especially according to the factors such as patients＇ age, deformity categories and degree, the muscle imbalances, and patients＇ expectations.
