Reflections on the Development and Nature of Modernist Design

围绕现代主义设计的发展与流变展开讨论,阐明了现代主义设计与现代设计、后现代(主义)设计之间的种种关系,进而强调了现代主义设计本质的定义:一种创造合理现代生活的理念与方式。毋庸置疑,这一理念及方式本身就存在着矛盾性。因此,需要对其进行深刻地反思,而反思的内容则包括现代主义设计的民主理念、时代理念、功能主义原则以及与现代艺术的关系等。

This paper discusses and analyzes the modernism design development and changes of the subject. At the same time, the complex relationships between the modernism design, modem design and post-modern design are illustrated. Then, it defines the essence of modernism design idea as an idea and a method of creating a rational modem life. Due to the obvious contradiction in itself, profound reflections are in need, such as the ideas of democracy, time and functionalism of modernism design, the relationship between the principles of functionalism and modem art, etc.
