东北早寒武世赋存石膏和硬石膏地层为馒头组与碱厂组,石膏岩系主要由石灰岩、白云岩、(硬)石膏岩、砖红色白云质泥岩等组成。早、中寒武世陆缘海分布在辽宁东部与吉林南部,形成滨海堆积碳酸盐岩碎屑岩建造石膏、硬石膏矿床。
