The Global seismicity during the 3rd quarter of the year 1986 is of medium level or slightly above. Earthquakes along the west coastal range of the Americas are still very active. A moderate earthquake occurred in El Salvador causing great losses. At present the Taiwan Region of China is in an active phase of strong earthquakes. The seismic activities of the Oceanic Island Arc belt between the Pacific and Indian Oceans are at equal level as that of 1985. The seismic activity on the eastern part of the Eurasian belt is more fre- quent. A strong intermediate earthquake occurred again in Vrancea area, Romania.
