顾彼得(1901-1975),俄国旅行家、学者、作家。十月革命后来到中国。著有《被遗忘的王国》、《彝人首领》、《神秘之光》。这三部作品分别以丽江、西康彝人、中国道观为主要描写对象,建构了一个俄国人眼中的独特的中国形象。顾彼得出生、成长在俄国,在中国生活了30年(其中在丽江九年,自认是"纳西人"),后来用英文面向英语世界读者写作,多重身份和不平凡的命运决定了他所塑造的中国形象的复杂性。
Peter Goullart (1901-1975) was a Russian-born traveler, explorer and author, who is best known for a number of books describing the life and customs of various peoples living in remote parts of East and Southeast Asia. He grew up in Russia, but after Bolshevik Revolution he fled to China and spent thirty years of his life in China. He lived in Lijiang, Yunnan province for almost nine years and considered himself a Nakhi people. Goullart had a thick interest in in Daoism and ill exploring the remote mountainous areas of Western China. His books, Forgotten Kiagdom, Pnhce8 of the Black Bone, and The Monastery of Jade Mountain are respectively focused on documenting Lijiang, the life and customs of inhabitants of The Yi People, and Chinese monastery, or rather, Daoism. All of Goullart' s books were written and published in English, though he was a total Russian. He constituted a unique image of China in his books, which is complex due to his multiple identities and Extraordinary life experience.
