Analysis of Emerson's Works from the Perspective of Ethical Literary Criticism

Emerson insists a harmonious and interdependent relationship among nature, humans and society. He also penetrates the ethical chaos such as corruption, depravity and unfairness in the political, economic and religious systems of his society and holds the view that humans must take themselves away from society＇s flaws. This paper is a tentative analysis of Emerson＇s view on humans＇ basic relations to nature, to themselves and to the society from the perspective of Ethical Literary Criticism, and thus unearths Emerson＇s ethics and the ethical situation encoded in his works.
