As a kind of comprehensive art form, illustration has the rich artistic and epochal features. Illustration is a typical painting language with emotion. If illustration is applied to the poster graphic design, it will greatly enhance the visual appeal and visu- al impact of the poster, and improve the dissemination efficiency of the visual information. This paper mainly discusses the functions of the illustration on the poster graphic design and the application of the traditional illustration in the contemporary poster graphic design.
