Toni Morrison portrays a lot of characters with schizophrenia in the novel Song of Solomon and applies Freud＇s psychoanalytic theory to analyzing the main characters＇ psychology structure and actions. It exposes that the scar left by slavery and the persecution of black people by the social and cultural values of the white mainstream are so severe as to have been merged into black people＇s collective unconsciousness and formed black people＇s “super-ego”, which restricts and constrains their “ego” and instincts, thus leads to their split personality.
