On Thinking of the Strategy of the Grand-scale Development of China’s Western Area and Sustainable Development

从可持续发展战略高度思考：西部大开发是中国（区域）经济、社会和生态可持续发展的客观要求；是西部地区走可持续发展之路的历史性机遇；是中国实施区域可持续发展战略的伟大实践，根据西部地区区情，当前和今后一段时间内，西部大开发必须主动适应国内外市场竞争的需要，加强可持续发展能力建设，优化区域系统结构，实现PRED系统的良性循环和协调发展。

Considering sustainable development, the Grand-Scale Development of China’s western area is an objective request for fulfilling the sustainable development of China’s regional economy as well as society and nature. It is also a historic opporturnity for the West to persist the sustainable development. And to China, it’s a significant practice to carry out the strategy. According to the reality, now and hence, the Western development should initiative conform to the need of inner and outer market competitions, and strengthen the ability of sustainable development, optimize the regional systemic structure, so as to realize the positive circulation and harmonious development of PRED.
