On Wei Yuan's Thought of Kindness and Gentleness

魏源是近代中国转型时期的思想家,他在倡导经世致用、改革开放的思想同时,形成了自己的和善思想与理念。魏源指出,"仁善"是人的心性之物,但是需要培育。他从社会层面的人与人之间的关系提出了立平等、破贵贱是"和"的基础;从国家治理层面提出顺道以行、美利利天下的仁善之政,并从理论和实践上探索如何聚天下之善、使天下归仁。魏源的和善思想,既根源于湖湘文化,又对湖湘文化产生了重要影响。

Wei Yuan is a thinker in the transitional period in modem China. He formed his own thought of kindness and gentleness in the practice of advocating reform and opening up. He pointed out, that ＂Benevolence and kind＂ is the human mind, it needs nurturing . He also pointed out that from the relationship between human and society, establishing equality and breaking the cent is the basic of ＂harmonious＂ . Proposed by the state governance, he indicated, that men should follow the moral action , should consider the interests of the whole world . He explored how to gather human＇s kindness and make the world kind. Wei Yuan＇s thought of kindness and gentleness is rooted in Huxiang culture, and it had an important influence on Huxiang culture.
