20世纪二三十年代,定县平民教育实验成为全国各地乡村建设者学习的榜样。作为面向农村、服务农民的《农民》报,积极利用自身优势参与定县平民教育实验,主要侧重于推行乡村识字教育、推广乡村生计知识、介绍乡村卫生知识、普及乡村公民知识,不仅丰富了农村的业余文化生活,而且为农民的生产生活提供了科学指导,在民众教育的普及、素质的提高、科技的引进和应用、公民意识的提升等社会各个层面作出了贡献。
