Re-examining English and American novels is an important way of learning English and American culture. The novel is a literary form which shapes characters through story narration and specific environment description. There are a lot of treasures of Eng-lish and American culture,Romeo and Juliet by British master dramatist Shakespeare,Pride and Prejudice by British female writer Jane Austin,Sons and Lovers by British writer Lawrence,The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by American writer Mark Twin and The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne,to name just a few,whose literary charm and educational significance is valuable. Hence,we should make students ac-quire the knowledge on English and American literature in multiple ways and change the teaching methods of English and American lit-erature to improve students’ interest and ability of reading literature works and their English literature quality.
