The Choice of Life and Death——A Comparative Analysis of Endings of Mourning and Life Life Bird

鲁迅的《伤逝》与许地山的《命命鸟》均表达了青年追求爱情婚姻自由受到封建专制阻挠的主题,但两篇小说中的男主人公的结局却不一样。涓生选择活着,加陵选择死亡。从小说内容、作者两方面探索男主人公不同结局的原因。

Mourning written by Lu xun and life life bird by Xu Dishan both deliver the theme of the youth chasing the freedom of love and marriage but being restricted by feudal autocracy. However, the two articles show different endings for the heroes. Juan sheng chooses to live whereas Jianling chooses to end his life. This paper thus intends to explore the reasons why they have different endings from the perspectives of the contents and authors of the novels.
