《暴风雨》历来被看成是莎士比亚的封笔之作,是他"诗的遗嘱",它深邃的寓意一直受到关注。许多学者都分析了作品中蕴含的忏悔、仁慈、宽恕与谅解的基督教道德观,但是这一分析还不足以全面揭示普洛斯彼罗的思想体系,回答他何以在宽恕罪恶后,全然放弃法术,弃岛返乡这一重要抉择。本文试图从生态主义文学观、莎士比亚人文思想发展和莎士比亚现实主义文学手法这三方面,来探讨《暴风雨》结局背后隐藏的遵循宇宙秩序,追求身心自由和推崇现实生活的深刻主题。
Regarded as Shakespeare＇s last play and his ＂poetic will＂, The Tempest has long attracted the audience with its thematic profundity. Many critics in China have disclosed the Christian ethics, featured by atonement, penitence, mercy and forgiveness, entailed in the play, however such an interpretation cannot entirely display Prospero＇s view of the universe, because it may not provide a valid explanation to the reason why in the end Preospero chose to lay down all his magic power and returned to Milan. In this essay, I attempt to further discuss the themes of The Tempest on the basis of ecologism literature criticism, Shakespeare＇s humanist thought and his realist style.
