本文对这部具有集欧美汉学之大成意义的《剑桥中国文学史》,从学术理念、写作风格到处理具体文学问题的特点和得失做出来自中国学者的评价,既肯定了其学术理念的启发性、部分章节的创新意义,也从文学通史的角度对其叙述方法的可行性提出了质疑,最后对一些细节提出若干商榷意见。

The Cambridge History of Chinese Literature is the consummation of a host of the first-rate sinologists in Europe and America. This paper tries to offer a Chinese critique of the academic rationale and writing styles of this magnum corpus by pointing out both its suggestive innovation and the credibility of its narrative methodology. It also raises a number of comments on certain specific issues.
