评点古籍是严复译介西学名著外会通中西、融合古今,进行学术研究和政治探讨的重要方式。华东师大图书馆藏严复手批《杜工部集》(清乾隆五十年郑澐玉勾草堂刻本)熔铸现实,阐发传统,坚持"切己体认"的批评原则;直述"诗贵沉郁"、"文章佳处大抵在虚构"、"诗贵兴象"等诗学观念;注重诗歌创作结构、章法、字法艺术的阐发;秉持公心,客观平议杜诗艺术优势和先天缺陷,拥有独立的价值判断,成为近代杜诗评点史上颇具特色的杜诗未刊评本之一。

The comments on the ancient works is an important way besides from translating western classics that Yan Fu conduct academic research and political explore. Yan Fu＇s comments on Du Fu＇s Poems contact with reality and analyze the tradition, which are collected in the East China Normal University Library, adhere to the criticism principle of expressing the view contact personal ex- periences, directly express some important poetic ideas, such as emphasizing chenyu, xingxiang and fictitious, etc. Pay attention to in- terpreting the structure, the composition and the diction, evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of Du Fu＇s poems objectively. Yan Fu＇s comments are the unique unpublished comments on Du Fu＇s poems in the modern history of the study of Du Fu＇s poems.
