It points out that damping is one of the most important parameters in structural dynamic response analysis, it is the index to describe the energy dissipation in structural vibration. The damping classification and several common damping model are introduced in this paper. And simply elaborated its application in structural dynamic analysis, provided theoretical basis of the research on structural dynamic characteristics.
