The translation of culture-loaded words constitutes a big challenge for translators. This paper analyzes translation of culture-loaded words in Lin Yutang’s English Version of Six Chapters of a Floating Life from the perspective of eco-translatology. It points out that in translating culture-loaded words, the translator can use the translation theory of eco-translatology to achieve the maximal equivalence between the original text and the translated text. The translator should keep the whole culture-loaded words translational eco-environment in view and focus on three-dimensional transformations, namely the linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensional transformations to produce the translated text with the highest“degree of holistic adaptation and selection”.
