新中国成立后,邓小平担任中共中央西南局第一书记、西南军政委员会副主席、西南军区政委。1952年7月,周恩来推荐邓小平担任政务院副总理。从8月邓小平被任命为政务院副总理,并在周恩来出访苏联期间代理总理职务,至1954年9月政务院改为国务院,这是国家经济、政治和领导体制发生重大变化的两年,在毛泽东、周恩来的支持下,邓小平同周恩来一起负责政务院的全面工作。面对复杂的局面,他们相互支持、默契配合,留下了许多历史佳话。

After the founding of New China,Deng Xiaoping served as first secretary of the CPC Southwest Bureau,vice-president of Southwest Civil and Military Commission,commissar of Southwest Military.In July 1952,Zhou Enlai recommended Deng Xiaoping as vice-premier of Government Administrative Council.From August Deng Xiaoping was appointed as vice-premier of Government Administrative Council and acted as acting prime minister during Zhou Enlai visited the Soviet Union until Government Administrative council was changed to the State Council in September1954.Those two years had undergone significant changes in national economic,political and leadership system.With the support of Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai,Deng Xiaoping and Zhou Enlai were in charge of the overall work of Government Administrative Council Facing the complex situation they supported each other,cooperated tacitly and left many historical anecdotes.
