"Cangchang Matters First Draft" Manuscripts with Deng Zhicheng's Notes

光绪初年仓场侍郎锡珍所撰《仓场事宜初稿》,书中内容涉及仓场诸多方面,如粮仓地点、漕粮种类、验收流程、漕费收支、船帮名称、储备监管、经纪编号、漕运额征及历年轻赍旧案、官员职能俸禄等,并附有杨邮筐儿港减河石坝御制碑文、诗句。经著名历史学家邓之诚过目,知其是研究清末漕运的重要史料。查阅各家书目,尚未见有刻本流传。核查近年出版的相关专著,亦均未使用过此资料。由于作者本人就是仓场官员,所记皆其本职,故价值巨大。同时,此资料对于研究北京包括通州方志等都有益处。

'Cangchang Matters First Draft' written by Xizhen,Assistant Minister of Cangchang during the early year of the Reign of Emperor Guangxu,covers many aspects of cangchang(national grain storage and reserve system),such as the locations of granaries,types of caoyun(official grain water transport system) grains,process of inspection and acceptance,income and expenditure of caoyun expenses,names of shipping groups,storage supervision,brokerage registers,caoyun grain collection quotas,accounts of discounted silver over the years,and the functions and salaries of officials.It also records the imperial inscriptions and poems on the tablet at the Jian River stone dam at Yangcun Kuanger Harbor.The manuscripts were once inspected by the famous historian Deng Zhicheng who deemed the book as important historical materials for research on caoyun in the late Qing Dynasty.After studying various book lists,we have not discovered carved editions of the book in circulation.Also by checking related works on the subject that were published in recent years,we discovered that these materials have not been used by any of those works.Since the author himself was a cangchang official,and his recordings are all about his own work,the book is extremely valuable.Meanwhile,the reference materials contained are useful to research on Beijing,including Tongzhou local records.
