This paper investigates the extensive application of bar code technology in hospital information system,such as patient identification,patient safety management,patient care information,doctor ＇s order,specimens,medical records,asset,stuff,instrument disinfection and tracking and etc. Bar code is the unique patient identification in hospital by binding patient＇s element information. In practice,bar code has proved a popular way to increase the working efficiency greatly and avoid man-made error effectively. The bar code technology plays a vital role in achieving information sharing and interaction in the hospital information system and the medical process.
