Recent Overseas Studies on Frontiers and Native Chieftains in Southwest China

摘要 近年来西方对中国边疆研究出现了新的研究取向,从人类学的中国族群研究逐步向历史学的中国边疆社会与文化研究的纵深发展。在海外中国边疆研究的热潮中,中国西南土司制度成了一个热点,对一些关键性概念的讨论,如帝制时代多元文化政治、中心-边缘、文明进程、朝贡-朝圣体系、地方主体性建构等,产生了建设性与挑战性思考。 Recently, overseas studies about Chinese frontiers have been making progress, its development deepens from Chinese ethnic group study of anthropology to Chinese frontiers society and culture study of history. In the boom of overseas studies of Chinese frontiers , chieftains system in southwest China became a hot issue for series of conceptual questions , such as multicuhural politics of monarchy time, centre-margin, civilization progress, tributary system ---pilgrimage system, local subjectivity construction, and so on, which caused constructive and challenging reflection.
