摘要谢默斯·希尼是爱尔兰最伟大的诗人之一,他的诗歌以描写恬静的田园生活而广受赞誉。《挖掘》探讨的不仅仅是诗人的童年生活,它挖掘的是曾一度被遗忘了的爱尔兰性,反映了深刻的民族身份问题。表达了诗人对爱尔兰民族的爱以及追寻爱尔兰文化和历史的决心,是希尼早起创作思想的浓缩。
