地价指数是一个有关土地价格的相对数，与其它物价指数不同，它的总体趋势不断上升、具有一定的惰性、测算难度大。它在城市经济中发挥着地价显示、政策导向、投资导向等重要作用。对地价指数的研究在国外则早已有之，国内还刚刚起步，研究中还存在诸多问题需要解决。
