The Conceptual and Technological Design of the Environment of Modern Distance Education

摘要 The development of computer networking technology has brought about a new developing dimension for distance education.The Education Ministry of China put forward The Action Plan of Renovating Education of the 21st Century,focus on building up a modern distance education project,which again raises the status of distance education, promoting waves of construction of computer networks by TV universities.Yet to make a full play of computer networking technology in distance education,we have to find an effcient solution to such problems as barriers to the interaction of teachers and students,educational quality and a temporal discordance between low educational cost and large scale of teaching.It becomes more and more important to pay attention to the overall environmental design,which turns out a key to the success of modern distance education if it secures a rational and orderly operation in the right educational environment. The article holds that the conceptual environment of distance education refers to the cognitive degree of people in the societu,including educational policy makers,administrators,teachers,technicians and learners as well,who make the environment for“ soft landing”of modern distance education to be carried out. By technological environment,the author indicates the technological conditions in distance teaching activities,which include the technological personnel,teaching resources,the educational administration system,software,learners supporting system in cyberspace and teaching environment on the net.The author discusses his personal views on the two above-mentloned environments,believing that the value lying in design and constrtlction of these two environments exceed,to a great extent,that of the distance educational teaching activity itself.
