A Probe into the Reason for Lin Xiantang's Active Participation in Literature during the Japanese Occupation ——The Diary of Lin Xiantang and Global Travels as the Center

日据时期,出身于台湾中部雾峰望族的林献堂积极倡导和亲自参与台湾各种文化运动,从事各类文学创作,企图借文化之名以争取民族平等之实。以《灌园先生日记》《环球游记》所记载的各类文化和文学活动为中心,可探析其文化参与中的儒、道意识及文学创作中的文化记忆和身份认同,并解读林献堂个体生命所折射出的近代台湾文化和台湾文学的缩影。

During the Japanese occupation, Lin Xiantang, born in a famous family in Wufeng in the central part of Taiwan, actively advocated and personally took part in the cultural movements of Taiwan. He participated in all kinds of literary creation and at- tempted to gain real equality in the name of culture. In this paper, various cultural and literary activities recorded in The Diary of Lin Xiantang and Global Travels are applied to interpret Confucianism, Taoism and cultural memory and identity of literary creation and to analyze the modern Taiwan Residents culture and literature reflected by his life
