摘要
本文讨论上世纪80年代认知语言学研究兴起后,系统功能语言学家对认知、认知科学和认知语言学的观点。主要整理汇报韩礼德散见在不同时期有关认知的评述和观点,间或谈到其他系统功能语言学家的观点和工作,特别是韩礼德和Matthiessen于1999年出版的合著。具体内容包括认知在系统功能语言学框架中的地位,如心理过程、3大元功能、语义层和意义潜势等。在此基础上,讨论认知与语言、语义、语法、语言学习、符号学以及与认知功能框架的关系。最后,作者认为系统功能语言学和认知语言学在探索认知与意义的道路上是同路人的关系。
This paper discusses views concerning cognition, cognitive science and cognitive linguistics held by SF linguists since the rise of cognitive research in 1950s. It mainly summarizes and reports Halliday＇s views and comments which appeared on various occasions, and occasionally touches upon the views held by other systemicists, such as Christian Matthiessen. The main content covers the role of cognition in SF Linguistics, such as the mental process, the three metafunctions, the semantic level, and mean- ing potential. Based on these, the paper further discusses the relation between cognition, and language, semantics, grammar, language learning, semiotics, and cognitive semantic framework. Finally, the writer holds the view that systemic functional lin- guistics and cognitive linguistics are fellow travelers along the path of the pursuit of knowledge.
