摘要 把EAP翻译为学业用途英语还是学术用途英语,两者有什么实质上的差异?学术英语对中国大学生是否是一种并不存在的实际需要?或并不适用于全国大学英语教学?如何提供学生真心喜欢的优质外语教育?本文主要对大学英语界这些疑问进行探讨。通过对学生个人外语能力需求和国家外语能力需求分析,学术英语教学内涵的分析,以及我国大学英语面临的生存危机的分析,我们认为学术英语符合中国大学生的需求,不仅有助于培养在专业领域内具有国际竞争力的人才,而且是中国大学英语教学的发展方向。 The paper is a response to the following issues: Should EAP be translated into English for Schoolwork Purposes or English for Academic Purposes? Does the teaching of EAP fit the needs of the majority of Chinese university students? Can it be applied to nationwide college English? How can we provide students with quality foreign language education? Based on the statistic evidence, the needs analysis of personal foreign language capacity and national foreign language capacity, and the discussion of the implications of teaching EAP to both the cultivation of critical thinking ability and the solution to the crisis of college English education, the paper draws the conclusion that teaching EAP can fulfill the needs of Chinese undergraduates, making a significant contribution to both the enhancement of students' competitive competence in international academic context and the promotion of college English education in China's Mainland in a new direction.
