摘要
词汇在二语习得中起着至关重要的作用。本文旨在借助非英语专业学生大学英语四、六级考试成绩,研究Nation最新的词汇量测试能否预测语言水平。96名非英语专业大二学生参加了此次实验。实验结果显示词汇量跟四级成绩显著相关,与六级成绩的相关性不明显。这一研究结果或将是对目前我国大学英语词汇知识教与学过程中重广度轻深度、重接受轻产出现象的一个醒示。
Vocabulary plays an important role in language learning. This paper aims to study the predictability of the Vocabulary Size Test( VST) on language proficiency by looking into the correlation between the vocabulary of non-English majors and their scores of College English Tests( CET-4 and CET-6). The study shows that vocabulary size is significantly related to CET-4 but not associated much with CET-6. It may be a warning for the non-English majors and their teachers,who focus much on breadth and reception of vocabulary knowledge while attaching little importance to depth and production of vocabulary knowledge.
