Reading comprehension is a comprehensive language and thinking ability in English learning, ana also is an essential ability for students in their actual life, study and work. This paper expounds the theory of English discourse analysis, analyzes the factors influencing university students＇ reading comprehension ability, and probes into the application of cohesion and coherence in reading comprehension, which makes a demonstration for university students in improving the reading comprehension ability by using the discourse analysis.
