The research,programs and developing policy on Loran C system in US and Northern Europe are introduced briefly in this paper. The US government has worked out a detailed plan to adjust the system and upgrade the devices for Loran C system. Besides, the long term requirement and cost effectiveness for Loran C system,in which the new techniques have been adopted,are to be evaluated. In Northern Europe,the main subject is how to integrate Loran C with satellite systems. More work about Loran C system should be done in the future.
