摘要
本文是一项实证研究,旨在调查语言水平与习语类型对医药院校外语专业学习者理解英语习语策略的影响。研究同时将20组英语习语分为正式、非正式以及俚语三种类型,对受试学习者进行有声思维测试,探讨学习者在遇到具体语境中的陌生英语习语时会采取何种理解策略。与以往同类中国学习者习语理解策略研究结果有所不同,本次实验结果显示,习语类型对医药院校外语专业学习者的理解有影响,但不同语言水平的医药院校外语专业学习者在对习语的理解上没有显著差异,习语类型和学习者语言水平之间的相互作用对习语理解的影响也并不明显。语言水平高的学习者在英语习语理解过程中表现更为活跃,较多地使用相关母语知识介入理解过程。语言水平低学习者倾向于凭借字面意思进行猜测。
Being an empirical study, this paper investigates the effect of language proficiency and idiom types on the idiom processing strategies employed by foreign languages majors in pharmaceutical university. Twenty English idioms are classified into three categories, including formal, informal and slang, to explore the course of their participation in the idioms comprehension. The results reveal that the idiom types exert influence on strategies used by testees, while language proficiency shows insignificant impact. The advanced testees are more active in the comprehension of idioms by the aid of native language. Nevertheless, the intermediate testees tend to speculate idioms literally.
