福斯特小说《最漫长的旅程》是一部充满象征意象和象征意义的小说。通过对小说中象征意象的解读,来解析隐藏在这些象征意象背后的深刻含义,并指出福斯特借此来表达他对英国爱德华时代社会转型时期社会状况的担忧以及人与人之间关系的深刻思考。
The Longest Journey of E. M. Forster is a novel embodied with symbolic meanings. Through analyzing the images, this paper intends to expound the deep meaning of these images. By means of these symbolic descrip- tions, Forster expresses his worries to the social condition of the transitional era and his concerns on human rela- tionships.
