The Intrinsic Paradox of "Retranslation Is Valuable in Surpassing the Previous One" :A Reflection from the Perspective of Descriptive Translation Studies

摘要描述性复译研究中夹杂的复译"贵在超越"论令复译问题陷入悖论。逻辑基础的混淆、研究范式的模糊和评价方式的简单化,使得复译"贵在超越"论在理论上难以自圆其说,在实践中缺乏可操作性。本文探讨了描述翻译研究视域下复译"贵在超越"论的缘起,分析其悖论的本质和根源,在梳理界定复译本质的基础上,从翻译伦理角度探讨复译的原则,指出复译中需通过以"诚"为基础的翻译伦理协调各主体关系,完成"忠诚"的复译。 In descriptive retranslation studies,the claim that＂retranslation is valuable in surpassing the previous one＂puts the retranslation issues into a paradox. The confusion in logical basis and research paradigm,together with the oversimplification of evaluation approaches,makes the claim unjustifiable in theory and unmanageable in practice. Based on an analysis of the origin of this claim,its paradoxical nature and causes,this paper reflects on the nature of retranslation and proposes a loyalty-based ethics to coordinate the relationship among the subjects in retranslation with a purpose to accomplish a loyal retranslation.
