语义求真——科技翻译之要旨

Semantic Fidelity as Primary Principle of Scientific Translation

当代语言学认为,一种语言里包含多种语体。以英语为例,科技英语就是英语的一种语体,又称"特殊用途英语"(English for special purpose)。当代翻译理论五花八门,但是科技翻译则必须坚持语义求真,因为语义失真所带来的后果往往无法补救。本文论述语义求真的原则和方法。

In light of modern linguistics,any language contains different varieties. Taking English for example, scientific English（ or else called ＂English for special purpose＂） is a variety of English. Modern translation studies are multifarious,but the translation of scientific texts should always hold on to the principle of semantic fidelity,as infidelity will often lead to disastrous consequences. The present paper discusses the principles and methods of semantic fidelity.
