翻译案语研究——以严译《天演论》为例

Translation Notes—A Case Study of Yan Fu's Tian Yan Lun

添加案语是严复为译《天演论》采用的手段之一,本文以严译《天演论》为例研究翻译案语的类型与功能。就类型而言,翻译案语包括小字案、文内案及文后案;就功能而言,翻译案语有阐释功能、评论功能及添写功能。

Translation notes are frequently spotted in Tian Yan Lun,Yan Fu’s translation of Evolution and Ethics. This paper studies the types and functions of translation notes by analyzing Tian Yan Lun. Specifically, translation notes can be classified into intra-textual translation notes,extra-textual translation notes and smallprint translation notes. In terms of function,translation notes may serve as the translator’s interpretation,comments or additional writing.
