In GMA - brazing recommended shiehting gases are argon based mixed gases with small amounts of O2 or CO2. Despite the faet that pure argon is suitable as well, adding oxidizing elements in the shielding gas will stabilize the arc, make it less sensitive to deflection, reduce the amount of porosity and improve the wetting property of the weld seam. Further improvements can be achieved with helium containing mixed gases, especially to improve gap bridging and to improve the productivity.
