Subversion and Reconstruction:An Ethical Explanation of Typical American

美国华裔女性作家任璧莲的代表作《典型的美国佬》对中西伦理文化进行了反思。作为美国第一代华裔的拉尔夫、海伦和特蕾莎不忘弘扬中国儒家伦理文化,同时在西方异质文化的影响下,对母体文化有不同程度的颠覆与反抗。身处西方世界,"他者"身份的华裔无法以借鉴主流文化的方式获取成功。他们在尊重文化多样性的基础上,整合与重构中西伦理文化,由此重获新的生命活力。

The Chinese American writer Gish Jen's representative work Typical American reflects on Chinese and western ethical culture. As the first generation Chinese Americans,Ralph,Helen and Teresa try to carry forward the traditional Confucian ethical culture. Meanwhile under the influence of heterogeneous western culture,they somewhat subvert and resist their parent culture. In a Western culture,they as Chinese cannot draw on the mainstream culture to achieve success. On the basis of respecting cultural diversity,they integrate and reconstruct Chinese and western cultures and derive new life from them.
