摘要
威廉·卡洛斯·威廉斯的最后一部杰作《勃鲁戈尔诗画集》问世于后现代主义兴起的年代。老诗人在这部诗集重振并发展了一度丢弃的非人格化"立体短诗",是他对后现代主义反人格化的公开应战。本文通过对照分析威廉斯读过的英译唐诗、他与王燊甫合译的唐诗和收入《勃鲁戈尔诗画集》的佳作,论证唐诗与威廉斯晚年诗体再改革之间的渊源关系。
Williams'Pictures from Brueghel was published in the heydays of U.S.postmodernist poetry.The American modernist poet's surprising return to impersonality and'minimal,spatial design',an ideal and a style he abandoned in 1948-1958,should be viewed as his public response to the postmodern challenge to the modernist ideal of impersonality.By comparing Pictures from Brueghel with the Tang poems Williams had read and had helped translate,this paper traces and analyzes for the first time the stylistic and aesthetic elements of the Tang poetry in late Williams'resurrected modernism.
