摘要
During the past 10 years that I have lived in China, nay parents have visited me once. As my family hails from a rural village (in southern Finland), which is often -- accidentally -- left off of maps, it is stressful enough to make the weekly groteW shopping ride to the closest city, to say nothing of flying thousands of kilometers to a metropolis of millions to see their firstborn. One can only imagine how overwhelming a city like Beijing must be for someone whose highlight of the day is to pick up the mail -- my mother always gets a little too excited over the prospect of catching a glimpse of a neighbor on the way to the mailbox.
