本文在总结中外广场发展规律的基础上 ,借助于环境工程学、心理学、城市社会学、建筑学、美学、艺术等诸多学科的成就 ,着重研究人在广场空间环境中的行为活动规律 ,进而对广场空间环境设计进行了系统分析和提出了优化设计应遵循的原则。

The article summarizes the developing regularity of all kinds of squares and researches especially the regularity of people′s behaviors and activties in the square space with the help of achievements of many subjects such as environmental engineering, psychology, city sociology, architecture, aesthetics, art and such. After that, it goes on system analysis for square space design and puts forward the Principle which Optimum Design must abide by.
